|Elmwood Village Association Executive Director Accepts Associate Vice President Post with The Evergreen Association of WNY|

It is with regret and great commendation that The Elmwood Village Association announces the departure of Executive Director, Justin Azzarella.
Mr. Azzarella has accepted the position of Associate Vice President of Community Development with The Evergreen Association of WNY, Inc. As a member of the organization’s Executive Team, Justin will be responsible for initiating, developing and implementing community based programs within the organization.
“After more than six years of exceptional service and commitment to the Elmwood Village I am pleased to see Justin advance his career with the Evergreen Association of WNY,” said John Kolaga, Elmwood Village Association President. "The entire Elmwood Village Association community wishes him continued success."
Under Mr. Azzarella’s leadership the Elmwood Village Association made numerous advances in its programming and mission. Highlights of his tenure include:
Certification of the Elmwood Village as one of America’s “10 Great Neighborhoods” as awarded by the American Planning Association;
Passage of the Elmwood Village Design Standards into law; the first significant overhaul of the City of Buffalo’s zoning code for the Elmwood Village neighborhood in more than 50 years;
Expansion of event offerings including the popular Free Bidwell Parkway Summer Concert Series and Mass Appeal; An Elmwood Village Fashion Event, and most recently;
A $500,000 grant award from New YorkState’s Western New York Regional Economic Development Council to assist with building and façade renovations along Elmwood Avenue.
The Association’s current Business Director, Becky Gandour, will assume the position of Interim Director on March 5 while the board conducts a search for its next Executive Director. Details of the search will be released on the Association’s website, www.elmwoodvillage.org within the next few weeks.
